“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)
Being the coach/leader/mentor of your players depends on you growing your faith and a deeper daily relationship with Christ. Before the Lord, using it to develop and improve each player on your team is what He’s got planned for you, but in His way, not yours. As a coach, you need to be committed to the following:
- Stay in love with Christ to grow your faith. Without Christ, we would have no faith. Seek Him daily through His Word and grow in your faith.
- Serve Him with your entire heart, because faith is of little value if we do nothing about it. Allow your coaching efforts to be a result of your developing and growing confidence.
Remember that eternity awaits you. God has your life on this earth planned out for eternal purposes for you and the players you influence. This is because He loves you and sees that through your passion for soccer and being an influencer of players. His plan is for you to be a coach/mentor/leader/disciple on His team, winning matches and players for Christ and not to have success the way the world has for you. Your heavenly Father sees you as a great winner in this world, helping Him win it one game and player at a time.
This is the real game, and it’s about to happen in a greater way for you if you start using the faith He created for you. Are you ready to begin?
What’s your next move?
