Philippians 4:10-14 says, “I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. I don’t mean that your help didn’t mean a lot to me—it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles.” – The Message
When it gets down to your success or failures in this game of soccer God has always wanted you to be happy coaching in this game by trusting in Him alone whatever your circumstances. He also wants to steer/guide you in the right direction, so you don’t miss or mess up on the path He has planned for you. God does this so you can sink your teeth into what you do in this game to have success. He wants to give you His Power through His Spirit, your personalized counselor.
We often speak about the ‘beautiful game’ as coaches or a well-played match. I can assure you that God wants that for your players, but He wants you to commit to staying in this game and developing. He’s in it with you for the long haul and not just for a season. He finds, even more, beauty as you use your minds to make wise decisions with Him as your spirit makes those choices He wills for your life and the lives others He puts before you.
Proverbs 3:5-7 says, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen to God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, and your very bones will vibrate with life!” – The Message
These words in Proverbs remind you that when you trust the Father with your heart, you become more and more dependent on Him and not your own decisions. When you listen to the Holy Spirit prompting, you begin on that path that’s meant for you, heading you in the right direction. We must let Him accomplish His way in our lives and not set up those barriers stopping His work in us. I found out over the years through some of those unpredictable challenges, testing, trials, and tribulations that it is easier to be riding shotgun than to be doing all the steering on my own. You will know one day, if you’re not already, realized the power of the Holy Spirit and cooperation with your real Father wants to guide you and bring you to those right places He planned for you to serve and disciple others.
