GSM 9 Day Fun In The Sun Soccer Tour To Jamaica

Traveling to Jamaica

Assemble at your departing airport for your flight to Sangster Airport in Montego Bay or Norman Manley Airport in Kingston, Jamaica. Due to the requirements of International flights, please arrive 2.5 hours prior to departure. We hope to have you arriving into Jamaica in the late afternoon.

Following your flight arrival you will be met by our GSM Tour Manager and Director of GSM Jamaica Tours, Sherrick Williams.
Your tournament manager will supply you with and go over your trip itinerary, further details regarding your visit, and provide points of reference for your tour. You will transfer from your arrival city to your hotel accommodation base in Kingston or Montego Bay.

Your hotel will be ready for your team’s arrival and you can settle in before having your evening supper. After supper Sherrick will be going over your next day and making sure your arrival has been a suitable one.

About Jamaica

Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1494, Jamaica remained a Spanish colony until captured by the English in 1655. It gained its independence in 1962 and is an important force in the tourism economy and politics of the Caribbean. Jamaica is dominated by mountains, which are mostly covered with lush green forests. White beaches surround this tropical island and over 100 small rivers (mostly streams) flow from the mountains to the Caribbean coast.

Located 95 miles south of Cuba, Jamaica is known for many things - but certainly on top of any list are the numerous idyllic beach resorts, local pirate history, Reggae music, culture and food, and of course, delicious Blue Mountain Coffee.

Sample Day-to-Day Itinerary

Early morning team sharing time. After breakfast your team will work with GSM partner in soccer Liberty Academy in a youth soccer camp.

After lunch your team will be transferred back to your hotel for a break followed by a friendly match in the late afternoon.

Later in the evening you will be able to have dinner. You’ll have a chance to share together about your day as a team and how your morning session impacted your experience throughout the day.

About Kingston

Kingston, Jamaica's capital, lies on the fertile plains of Liguane between the cays and banks of the eastern coast and the towering Blue Mountains. In this picturesque setting has grown a city of over half a million people: a bustling, sprawling city which is a place of deep and striking contrasts.

Kingston is not the sort of resort paradise to be found on the north coast but it offers a great deal more to the traveler who seeks to gain more than a sun tan from a holiday in Jamaica. A great deal of Kingston is pure shanty town, but again one sees striking contrasts, especially in New Kingston, situated between the teeming downtown and mid town areas and the fading but still gracious suburbs of St. Andrew.

Hotel Four Seasons is where your home base will be while in Kingston, Jamaica. Small-scale, well maintained, and respectable, this is one of the most appealing hotels in Kingston, thanks to a sophisticated design that combines a once-private home with a rambling series of modern wings, courtyards, gardens, and fountains.

About Montego Bay

Montego Bay is an option for your team to stay and play soccer matches. Montego Bay is Jamaica's second city in size and importance, but it is the island's tourism capital. It boasts the most hotel accommodation; the most transport facilities and is, in fact, a cosmopolitan holiday centre, offering a wide choice of amenities.

City streets are crowded, colorful and lively. Country folk flock in to visit markets, shops and banks. Guests from hotels and cruise ships make their way to in-bond shops and Crafts Markets. Housewives, office girls and market hagglers promenade round bar-front discussion groups and sidewalk domino games.

Sam Sharpe Square, a pleasant cobble stoned hub of activity, is roughly the centre of the town where stands the Cage, formerly a jail for runaway slaves. The Gloustershire Hotel offers 96 spacious rooms most of which overlook the beautiful Caribbean Sea. It also features a restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool, several sundecks and gaming facilities.

It is the perfect vacation spot, centrally located in front of the famous Doctor’s Cave Beach and only 2 miles away from the airport and city center, surrounded by many restaurants, water sports, shopping and other forms of entertainment.

Experience the best of Jamaican hospitality starting with a sumptuous buffet breakfast all included in your room rate. These are just some of the many reasons the Gloustershire is favorite among many vacationers worldwide.

About Mandeville

Mandeville, principal town of the parish of Manchester, is a quiet, restful mountain resort, a little over 2,000 feet above sea level with a cool climate. Mandeville is off the beaten track, in the heart of Jamaica. Come wallow in the beauty that is Jamaica.

Dubbed "The Retirement Capital of Jamaica", Mandeville is characterized by green, lush tropical vegetation amidst rolling hills. The town is often likened to an English village and certainly boasts a village green, handsome stone buildings, and stone-walled pastures. Once a sleepy country town, Mandeville has a bit of bustle nowadays.

The Golf View Hotel adjoins and overlooks the vast green, verdant panorama of the oldest golf course in the Caribbean. It is owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Tony James, friends of Global Soccer Ministries and Paul Banta for over 25 years.

Your package includes:

• Accommodations: Eight nights at the Hotel Four Seasons/Glouteshire Hotel/Golf View Hotel
• Board: Breakfast, Lunch and Supper at your hotel or daily during your tour.
• Transportation: Coach or vans.
• Soccer Program which includes on local friendly club or school matches in Kingston, Mandeville and Montego Bay (Training time available if needed)
• Outreach soccer work with GSM Jamaican partner Liberty School players and staff.
• Sightseeing (at some additional cost based on interest)

April 3-10, 2010 Lansing Christian High School
GSM Guatemala has the pleasure of hosting four misssion teams this summer and one team from Lansing Christian High School.

One of the main things beside playing soccer will be for LCHS and other groups will be to assist in to improve the soccer fields that we use each week for our many academy players. Most fields are littered with rocks, metal pieces, broken glass, and garbage. Many are lacking fencing to keep balls from being lost over cliffs, as
well as an area to escape the hot sun for our devotional times.

Since the fields are community fields, these teams help our
relationships with the neighborhoods....along with showering the kids with love
and laughter!

Below are the teams that are coming to Guatemala this spring and summer.

April 3-10 Lansing Christian High School

June 18-25 Shiloh Community Church
July 3-10 Simply Missions/ Jackson
Baptist High School

July 24-31 Simply Missions/ Jackson
Baptist H.S. Alumni

August 1-8 Amistad Foundation

Please pray for safety for these teams, as well as for energy and good organization for us. There is always a great deal to be done in preparation for these groups.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve with these short term missionaries. Thank you for supporting us in prayer.

May God be in every detail!
