Welcome to Calvary Sports, Calvary Chapel St. Petersberg, Florida

As an outreach strategy, Calvary Sports represents one of the most effective platforms to reach today’s culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For the last five years, Calvary Sports has been a ministry based out of Calvary Chapel. Our vision is to impact and connect people in the community by using sports as a tool to share the good news of salvation. This is accomplished through outreach, discipleship, and fellowship. The avenue of sports provides a unique opportunity to integrate spiritual and physical disciplines in an environment fueled by passion and purpose.

There is no formula or specific program that we can use to change people’s hearts. Sports does, however, create an avenue to reach many people through sharing the Gospel and letting God change their hearts.  Sports is only the tool that will help us build relationships, give us the chance to share the hope that lives within us, and make disciples for God’s glory. 2017 Guatemala Soccer Mission Trip with Global Soccer Ministries International

Once again, it is with great honor that we are going on a short-term mission trip to Guatemala in July 2017 with Calvary Chapel St. Petersburg.  We will be partnering with Calvary Antigua and Potter’s Field Ministries (PFM), and soccer coaches in the area to serve together and reach out to the children and youth in the communities of La Antigua with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Global Soccer Ministries International will be sponsoring for Calvary Sports their International Coaching ‘D’ Level Soccer Course called, “Coaching Football Tactics and Holistic Leadership.” This course will be presented by Paul Banta, President of Global Soccer Ministries International who is a football educator.

GSM International has created a series of coaching international football courses at the D, C, B, A 1 and A 2 levels, Goalkeeping Levels 1 and 2. Over the years 1,000’s of soccer coaching has taken GSM Courses, which are geared to teach youth through senior professional coaches. The courses are about methods in ‘Modern Game of Football’ and teaching how coaches can develop their relationship with Christ to use football and Christ to train their players, sharing the Gospel and let God change their hearts through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Luis Hernandez, Director of Sport at Calvary Chapel will be translating to course and assisting Paul in the coaching of this course. Calvary Chapel Soccer Academy Youth Program uses GSM International Coaching Manual and GSM Daily Devotion for their program as do many soccer programs around the world.

GSM International looks forward to a great beginning to assist Calvary Sports in helping the coaches of Guatemala and the future developing of 1,000’s of coaches in Guatemala. Since 2004 Global Soccer Ministries has had a presence in Guatemala helping over 1,000 youth in soccer outreach, the operation of BRIO, a synthetic turf complex with lights that help generate a large sum of funds yearly to support GSM Guatemala operation for youth, coaching staff, BRIO staff and community outreach.
